What can I plant in my patio for the winter?
We just moved into a new house with a great patio. It was really dry and plain before we fixed it up. We have added a canopy for partial shade, a small grass area, koi pond and a few indoor/outdoor palms. What kind of plants can I put out there that will survive the winter in Las Vegas? Pavilion Furniture takes style outdoors
Pavilion Furniture is comfortably riding the wave of changing trends in furniture designed for the great outdoors.
Outdoor living no longer means just a dining table and four chairs set up in the backyard for an alfresco meal. Now it's all about outdoor spaces, with sofas and arm chairs with deep cushions, ottomans, lounges, occasional tables, service carts and etageres. The patio has become an extension of the home.
These new trends have played right into the growth strategy of Pavilion, which was launched 20 years ago. The North Miami-Dade manufacturer of high-end outdoor furniture, for example, led the way when it put a canopy on a lounge -- all the better for locals and visitors who want a respite from the sun.
An offshoot of MetalTech, a Hialeah company that manufactures hurricane shutters, Pavilion is known for its designs, both traditional and contemporary, its workmanship, and its reliability among retailers.
About 70 percent of Pavilion's sales are to residential customers who buy through designers or furniture showroom dealers. Hotels and resorts account for the remaining 30 percent.
