I am trying to find a canopy for a free standing swing.?
I have been trying to find a replacement for the canopy cover on my swing, are there any places that sell or can make them. I only need the canopy.
I had to have mine made. I tried contacting the manufacturer of mine and they were no longer in business. Other patio manufacturer's canopies would not attach to my frame and fit correctly. I found the places that make cushions for patio furniture, replacement gazebo and window awnings could make one to replace the old one by using it as a template. Since my fabric was Sunbrella, they carried the pattern and were able to make it.
Swing Replacement Canopy needed for Courtyard Creations free-standing patio swing?
I have a Courtyard Creations patio swing with canopy that I bought at Fry's MarketPlace and the canopy is in shreds as it appears to be pretty cheaply made from what I have read. I am looking for a replacement canopy for this swing. Does anyone know of how to get a hold of this company or has anyone had any experience with this company? Any ideas??
I didn't pay that much for the swing, so do not want to pay too much for a canopy replacement. I may need the cushions replaced soon as well. I have seen people with similar questions being told to make their own or have a patio company do it? Any ideas on how to make ones own or a patio company that could do it for cheap that is in Arizona............preferrably near Gilbert, AZ??? I would love any input as soon as possible!
Thank you!!
you can call them the phone is 1-877-539-7436.
is there any other way of getting a hole of Courtyard Creations? I need a new canopy too?
I have a free standing swing with a canopy that was made by courtyard creations. I bought the swing at Wal-mart for a good price and I don't want to pay A lot to get a new canopy. Mine got torn to shreds. I think its made from cheap material, the cushion on my swing needs to be replaced as well. I had it in my garage over winter and yet it still got torn up. Any one have any suggestion's on how to get a hold of them other then calling cause I've tried calling and I haven't gotten any where. I'd like to get my swing looking nice again!!
have you looked at amazon.com or ebay, or overstock.com, or maybe even graveyardmall.com they have canopy's listed on their sites, and usually they aren't that expensive, last year we bought a swing at walmart for 120$ and i bought a canopy off ebay to put over it, cause i didn't like the one made on it. good luck.
you could always take it back to the walmart you bought it at and explain the situation to them. maybe they would replace it
Science multiple choice questions?
1) Scientists wanted to study the effect of water temperature on the swimming speed of carp. They set up an experiment in which they raised populations of carp in two different aquariums. Population 1 was raised at 8 degrees C. Population 2 was raised at 27 degrees C. All other variables were constant in both aquariums.
If the temperature of the water increases from 8 degrees C to 15 degreesC, the carp in Population 1 would most likely
Choose one answer.
a. eat less food.
b. excrete more salt.
c. use more oxygen.
d. produce less carbon dioxide
2) The breathing rate of a goldfish can be measured by the number of times the goldfish opens its mouth. In an experiment, students placed a goldfish in a container of water at 26 degrees C and counted the number of times the fish opened its mouth. They gradually lowered the water temperature and counted the number of times the fish opened its mouth at 20 degrees C, 14 degrees C, 8 degrees C, and 2 degrees C.
Which of these descriptions best explains the decrease in the breathing rate of the goldfish?
Choose one answer.
a. The rate of metabolic activity decreased.
b. The fish's activity levels increased.
c. The demand for carbon dioxide decreased.
d. The demand for oxygen increased.
3) Overfishing of large predatory fish has left a stream free of many predators. This will result in the stream ecosystem having a...
(remember the boom and bust cycle from ecology?)
Choose one answer.
a. decrease in prey fish.
b. decrease in pollutants.
c. increase in aquatic plants.
d. increase in prey fish.
4) If a single plant species is removed from a food web, then most likely
Choose one answer.
a. other plants will produce enough food for herbivores
b. an animal species will fill the unoccupied niche
c. carnivores will be unaffected by the loss
d. dependent herbivores will have to find new food sources
5) The biome with the greatest number of species would also have the greatest variation in
Choose one answer.
a. habitats
b. animal life
c. consumers
d. plant life
6) A certain type of animal has long shaggy dark-colored fur, short legs, and a compact, chunky body. This animal has powerful hind legs and hooves with a hard outer trim and a rubbery inner surface.
Which of these biomes is most likely to be the habitat of this animal?
Choose one answer.
a. Hot, little precipitation, gravelly soil, scarce canopy
b. Cold conditions (below 0ºC at night), low biotic diversity, well-drained soil, ground-hugging vegetation
c. Varied temperatures (-30º to 30º C), even precipitation throughout year, moderately dense canopy, rich soil
d. Moist and humid, plants grow in standing water, thick canopy and groundcover, highest ecosystem diversity
7) An environment has cold winters with temperatures often below freezing and hot summers with temperatures often above 75 degrees F. It receives a moderate amount of rain and snow each year. Which of these organisms would most likely live in this environment?
Choose one answer.
a. maple tree - temperate deciduous forest biome
b. palm tree - tropical forest biome
c. olive tree - chaparral biome
d. cactus - desert biome
1. c. Goldfish are ectotherms, whose internal body temperature, metabolic rate (and, presumably, level of activity) varies with the environmental temperature. When the water at 8o C is increased to 15o C, the temperature of the fish, and thus its metabolic rate would increase. With increased metabolic rate, more oxygen is consumed, and more carbon dioxide is produced. It might eat more food over a longer time scale, but its excretion of salt would not change. Actually, it probably doesn't excrete salt at all, in either temperature - it lives in fresh water and would be much more likely to retain the salt.
2. a. As the water temperature decreased, the internal body temperature and the metabolic rate of the fish would decrease. The activity level and demand for oxygen would also decrease. There is no demand for carbon dioxide; it is a waste product.
3. d. increase in prey fish. If there are fewer predators, fewer prey would be caught. There would be no direct effect on pollutants either way, and aquatic plants (assuming the prey fish ate them) might actually decrease.
4. most likely d. A food "web" implies that there are several species in each trophic level. If a dependent herbivore cannot find a substitute, it will die, but if it can eat other plants, there would probably be enough (answer a) to feed it as well. An animal species cannot replace a photosynthetic plant, but a carnivore might be affected by the change, if its prey ate the missing plant and thus decrease in numbers.
5. again, most likely answer is a. habitats. b and c (animal life and consumers) are the same; plant life is too limited. More species mean more niches for those organisms (both plants and animals) to inhabit.
6. probably b. The compact chunky body, shaggy fur and short limbs imply an animal that lives in a cold environment because it it better at retaining heat, which eliminates answer a. The hooves make the swampy conditions in answer d unlikely. Both b and c are possible, but b is more likely because of the adaptations to a cold environment.
7. a. maple tree - temperate deciduous forest. It's not b because of the cold winters, and is not b, and is unlikely to be c because of the moderate rain and snow.

JOHN BOGERT: Bama, Texas tribes gather at BCS championship game
Somewhere far away from the Arroyo Seco, away from the $1,000 tickets and the people who paid top dollar for flights, hotels and marked-up game souvenirs, there existed a still sour economy. But not Thursday outside the Rose Bowl, where the BCS tribes - the Texas Longhorns and Alabama's Crimson Tide (real mascot: Al, the crimson elephant) - started partying at sunrise.
Down there in that naturally existing cut in the broad earth of Pasadena it was all cheer and smiles. That and at least two guys wearing the orange and blue of the University of Florida who came to root for another Southeast Conference school just because they figured it was the right thing to do.
Wooooooo! Roll Al.
OK, so I had long been counting on a Go Gators championship. But I was leaning toward Al on this truly glorious Southern California day just because once, long ago, I had a girlfriend from Dothan, Ala., and just because Alabama people just seem friendlier than Texas people.
Or so Chet Smith told
